As I said in the previous post, Brother and I spent a week in Holmes County staying at my Grandmas. The main purpose for going was because my Mother's baby sister had a little sweetheart named Noelle. In Dutch I am dubed "Maud" for the week. Basicly her maid while she is recovering and getting used to the new little one. Days were spent at aunt Marlene's house, as well as some evenings. We had good times with Grandma, but it went really fast. Between women's conferences ( Pictures later), being maud, wonderful coffee times and sleepovers, Easter drama, and some cousin time we stayed very busy. So here are a few pictures of our sweet time, and more to come later. |
Grandma spends a lot of time upstairs quilting. She honestly would not know what to do without something to quilt. It fills lonely afternoons and brings a small income. But she was almost done with one of her beautiful quilts and the lady she's got quilts from for the last 17 years retired. So we took Grandma searching for a new quilt one day. She almost wasn't sure what to do when the lady said she needed a sample of her quilting before whe gives her one. Grandma having done this for seventeen never thought of them doupting her fine neddle work. |

We left Good Friday morning. And for the Amish, that meant all day church and communion. So when we left at 7:00 A.M. she was up and dressed in her black dress and white apron for church. If you look real close you can see her just leaving the door after waving good bye to us. She is so cute and sweet. And my Father is every bit like her. Their eyes, their practicality and organazation. It makes me simply smile. |

The morning we left I grabbed a few pictures from my Dad's old upstairs room in which I stayed for the week. |

Here she is...little lady Noelle. |

Spent lots of wonderful time here....note sleeping Noelle and Benjamin's trail mark after he "cleaned out the cupboards" :). |

Quality time with Big Brother Benjamin. Derek goes to library to get the books that Marlene had reserved for Benjamin, her "Weaver" section being the largest. He carried the huge arm full of books to the counter where the librarian questions him if he is sure that Marlene truly gave him permission the check the books out etc. He told me later that if she would have just looked at the books! "Ahum ...excuse me lady, but do you think I would check out Spot and How To Change a Diaper! No worries it's not a scam." |

My dear Aunt is quite the creative litte mother, is she not? She made her lining for baskets. And bought fabric to have Grandma Yoder make a darling quilt with fabric matching the rest of her accessories. She used fabric and iron on material for the letters in the sewing hoops. You can't see it in these pictures, but her certain rod is a thick branch painted white taken out of my {other }aunt Martha's woods. She now wants to make a hall tree out of branches next. :) |

So sweet to have such a cute little lady in the kitchen while you work. :) |
We arrived home Good Friday evening at around four and left three hours later with the rest of the family and headed to Pennsylvania for a two week trip. So I can't wait to put pictures up of all the wonderful P.A. times we had as well. But this must do for now. As I often say to my sister "Have a good life till I see you again. (And then after that too. :)"
